  1. Background checks are performed on an applicant, director, shareholders and key employees to prevent criminal interests from operating, associating or having a financial interest in cannabis retail sales in Alberta. The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario, which will regulate the province’s retail cannabis outlets, is taking applications until noon Wednesday. The Airport Road location would see 500 square metres added to the property for retail trade space, with plans for more greenhouses and a micro-cultivation cannabis facility in the works. Once an application for a retail store authorization is made, the municipality and its residents will have 15 days, following notice of a proposed retail store being posted, to make written submissions in opposition to the particular store being granted a licence. We are publicly traded and proudly Canadian, operating a portfolio of well-known brands including CannTrust, Liiv, Synr.g, Peak Leaf and BrewBudz. But beware – even the most qualified individuals can be refused by Health Canada to fulfil the role of Quality Assurance Person if they do not have sufficient quality assurance experience in a Good Agricultural Practices (GAP), Good Production Practices (GPP), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), or Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) regulated environment, with proficiency in quality assurance systems. This means that most employees in the cannabis industry will not need a SC. Health Canada recommends that any individual who is not certain of whether or not they need a SC, contact them directly.
